"Le coloriste enlumineur. Journal d'enseignement du dessin, de la miniature, des emaux, de l'aquarelle, de la peinture sur verre, sur soie, etc., a` l'usage des amateurs et professionnels".The first 3 years' issues of this publication which ran until 1898. Each part is as issued with an illuminated chromolithographed cover (except for issues 1896 which are printed in monochrome) contained in 2 matching cloth-covered folders with gilt tiles to the spine. The whole work was intended as a guide and manual of illumination, each issue containg a printed text of c. 8 pages and two loose plates, the first usually with an outline design to be copied or filled in, and the second a chromo-lithographed facsimile of a medieaval or later document. The text describes individual manuscripts, the preparation and use of colours etc.etc. In later issues guides for producing illluminated menus and greetings cards are included. Collated complete but for monochrome plate, Pl. XVII which is missing from the 3rd series, Jan. 1896. Condition generally very good, occasional minor loss to a few corners, outer folder tapes worn or missing in parts. Size: Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Seller Inventory # 004582
