About this Item
A beautifully illustrated work on gardening by John Coutts, a previous curator of Kew Gardens. Revised, fourth impression of the work, in the publisher's original green cloth binding. First published in 1930. This work was compiled by John Coutts, A. Osborn and A. Edwards, the curator and assistant curators of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, around the time of publishing. The aim of the work is to present a straightforward book of instructions of how to plan and maintain a modern garden, depicting the benefits and downfalls of various shrubs and other plants. With sixteen colour plates, collated, complete. With many other vignettes and black-and-white illustrations throughout.Previous owner's cuttings surrounding gardening loosely inserted into the work. In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities and the occasional mark to boards. The odd mark to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to the first pages. Occasional offsetting due to previous owners inserts. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 877Q8
