About this Item

First edition identified by the fact copyright page doesn't say a darned thing, as per publisher's 1976 statement. Note "large octavo" size. This is the hard-to-find first printing. ISBN listed to title page as 0-8128-2067-6, which the ABE computer will not accept as a valid ISBN. It seems happier with ISBN as listed to jacket front flap: 0-8128-2067-3. Will close its own text block, but we downgrade to "good" due to considerable yellow "Hi-Liting." Price-clipped dust jacket is "good-plus" with small chips to corners. "'My Kind of Carryin' On' was Doug Poindexter's only Sun single. In 1955 he retired from the music business after the break-up of his band. His lead guitarist, Scotty Moore, and his bass-player, Bill Black, joined with a new singer. Today Poindexter sells insurance in Memphis. Monday, July 5, 1954. Rock-and-roll exists. Sam Phillips, Elvis Presley, Scotty Moore, and Bill Black are in Sun's poky, 30-by-20-foot studio messing with 'Blue Moon of Kentucky,' a song Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys had cut for Columbia in 1945. . . . Elvis Aron Presley was 19. . . . The Crown Electric Company . . . paid him $42 a week to drive a truck. . . . I think Elvis Presley will never be solved." 258 pp. including index. Reduced from $45.
