Tinted lithograph, image approx. 6 x 9 inches on sheet 8 x 11 ¼ inches. Plate LXV, taken from the 12th volume, Part I, of the Report of the United States Pacific Railroad Expedition and Surveys (USPRR) - 47th and 49th Parallels. The Survey was undertaken to find the most practicable and economical route for a railroad from the Mississippi River to the Pacific. Lithographed by Sarony, Major & Knapp, Lithographers. Some age-related dusting and brown-spotting; the upper edge shows that this item was removed from the book. A damp stain is visible on the blank rear, but not on the image.
