Upon completion of the railroad connecting London to Fishguard, the Cunard Line was able to operate an end to end route between New York and the European continent. The various avenues for travel are highlighted on this map, published by the company around 1911. Lines can be seen connecting London, then the largest city in the world, to Dover and across the Channel to Paris and Berlin. Travel to the latter would be severely restricted after the outbreak of WWI. The pictorial covers reference the drastic changes in maritime travel and technology, with the back cover showing Henry Hudson's Half Moon and the front presenting the latest Cunard Liner at Fishguard. Accompanying manuscript notes indicate the ship may be the RMS Mauretania, or that the map was distributed aboard one of her voyages. Sheet Height (in) 7.25 Condition B Wear along the vertical centerfold and moderate extraneous creasing on the right side of the sheet. Two tears have been repaired on the verso. Map is stapled to its original pictorial paper covers, where are worn and have pencil marks. Seller Inventory # 2419
