Synopsis: Tools for handling stress on the job.
From Library Journal:
Patterned after an advice column in the authors' E-mail newsletter, this self-help book about job stress begins with a brief description of seven "stress personalities" common to the workplace: the Pleaser, Striver, Critical Judge, Internal Time Keeper, Sabertooth, Worrier, and Inner Con Artist. The seven subsequent chapters elaborate on each personality, complete with stress tips, advice column-type questions and answers, as well as a ten-item stress test to determine whether the reader possesses such traits. The book then abruptly ends with a two-page epilog, giving the distinct impression that the authors simply ran out of things to write. Some readers may relate to some of the traits and behaviors described and may benefit from the snippets of advice furnished by the authors. In general, however, this book provides little more than a cursory examination of the important issue of work-related stress. The cryptic title, confusing chapter organization, and annoying melange of typefaces contribute to the overall confusion. Not recommended.?Alan J. Farber, Northern Illinois Univ. Dekalb
