A very scarce late seventeenth century account of the diary of Pope Paul V, head of the Catholic church between 1605 and 1621. In the original Latin.Illustrated with three full page engravings, to the verso of text leaves.Printed in two columns, in red and black ink.With the register: *-2*8, A8, B1, B8, C-N8, O7, P-2O8, a4.Collated, lacking leaves B2-7, O8. Leaves C2-7, 2C2-7 and 2H2-8 detached and loosely inserted.Appended with the Offices of the Saints emanating up to Innocent XI. Pope Innocent XI was head of the Catholic Church between 1676 and 1689.A very scarce seventeenth century Catholic work. In a full calf binding. Rubbing to back strip and board perimeters. Hinges held by cords only. Rear board cracked at the centre. Broken clasps to fore edge of rear board. Internally, binding strained throughout. Leaves C2-7, 2C2-7 and 2H2-8 detached and loosely inserted. Lacking leaves B2-7, O8. Pages significantly age toned, with handling marks, spotting and tide marks throughout.
