Originally performed in 1760 in three acts, later expanded to five due to its great success. Illustrated with a frontispiece.The Goodnatured Man; A Comedy by Oliver Goldsmith. Dated from Copac 1807. As performed at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden. Originally performed in 1768 with Mary Bulkley as Miss Richland and printed in the same year, a success for Goldsmith. Illustrated with a frontispiece.John Bull; or, the Englishman's Fireside: A Comedy in five Acts, by George Coleman, the Younger. Dated from Copac 1806. First authorised edition. As first performed at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden in March 1803: there was a Dublin piracy the same year. The most successful play by this author. Illustrated with a frontispiece. In half calf binding over paper covered boards. Externally generally sound with fair shelf wear, considerable rubbing to boards and spine with minor loss to boards. Previous ownership ink inscription to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Minor staining mark affecting occasional leaf throughout, Pages lightly age tones, as usual.
