(See photos). Contemporary ex-libris on paste-down, Not in Adams. An important work, a handbook of Latin language and style that greatly advanced the study of Latin. Valla s grammar of Latin had a simpler (and quite modern) basis than the Scholastic categories and provided revolutionary ideas for later humanists. He is most famous for demonstrating once and for all, by compelling philological arguments, that the Donation of Constantine was a forgery. He is one of the most important early figures in the great line of Renaissance classical scholarship, culminating in such figures as Lipsius and the Scaligers.
