Small Quarto. 31 (4)pp. Original illustrated rose paper-covered boards with rose lettering on cover, black on spine. Decorative endpapers. Frontispiece woodcut. Publisher's device on title page. Brief introduction to the elements of book-making: "Although there are many reference books covering the various branches of the art of book-making, there is seldom readily available one that adequately shows all the various types of pages, in their proper sequence, that go into making of a well made book. While the maker of a book is entitled to experiment with the layout of his book, he or she should be familiar with and have some knowledge of the art of the past, as well as the present, masters of book-making." (Introduction). The brief introduction is followed by the display of various typefaces, decorative elements, proof reader's marks, an appendix on early bookmaking, notes and a glossary on the subject. Block with light age-toning. Binding and interior in overall very good condition. Seller Inventory # 39701
