About this Item
Twelve page text accompanying 7 full page colour reproductions mounted on card stock; both contained in stiff card portfolio in very good French wrapped dustjacket and original glassine outer wrapper. Frank Buscher (1828-1890) was a Swiss painter of portraits, landscapes, nudes, etc. Buscher studied at the Academy of St. Luke in Rome; several months in Paris; and at the Antwerp Academy. He had a taste for adventure and travelled broadly, spending time in France, Germany, Spain, England, Morocco, Greece, and even the United States. In addition to painting en plein aire and from models, Buscher made great use of photographs, many of his paintings of American scenes were done from his voluminous collection of photographs from his trip.
