About this Item
Octavo. [1-4]5-10[11-12]pp. (1)pp. ad. at rear, 29 leaves with tipped in plates. He was already an acclaimed Spanish artist when this dedicated to him just before he became director of the Museo del Prado. When he was only ten, he was the only artist allowed to draw a portrait of King Alfonso VII at his death. He then studied in Rome and won major prizes at both the 1904 Exposicion Nactional de Bellas Artes and the 1907 event at Barcelona. He became director of the Museo del Prado in 1922, he preserved many of the great paintings during the Spanish Civil War only to retrieve them once the war was over. Since the work has his paintings done in the period 1900-1917, it is clear that the OCLC date of 1900 is inaccurate. Bound in pictorial paper wraps (self wrappers) some small edge tears with wear to spine. A very good copy. Seller Inventory # 027221
