Minimal foxing and tanning to endpapers and page edges. Mild wear and bumping to spine, board edges and corners, with scuffing, staining and marking to boards. Notable tanning to spine. Cloth. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Fidelia Fiske (1816-1864) US Missionary. Graduate of Mount Holyoke seminary, who became its first graduate to enter into international missions. Fidelia spent fifteen years in Persia declaring the value of women. She convinced families to let her educate their young daughters instead of abandoning them or selling them into slavery. Not Dated (1870 BL) CONDITION Brown pebble cloth with Black ruled borders, bright Gilt title and decoration. Slightly rubbed to spine ends and tips, front ep has been neatly removed, portrait frontis engraved by W H Mote has tissue guard added, 192 pages with engraved vignette.
