About this Item
An illustrated collection of light verses from English writer W. S. Gilbert, with his own illustrations. Illustrated throughout with comic images. A collection of entertaining and humorous light verse which developed the author's "topsy-turvy" style whereby humour is derived by setting up a ridiculous premise and working out the logical consequences, however absurd they may be. Written and illustrated by Sir William Schwenck Gilbert, an English dramatist, librettist, poet and illustrator best known for his collaboration with composer Arthur Sullivan, which produced fourteen comic operas. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Light loss to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge tender. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. Good. Seller Inventory # 900T48
