332 p., paper. The premise of this book is that "the outer person is a reflection of the inner." The book, which accompanied an exhibition at the LA County Museum of Art, is a chronological look at the photographs of the human face, organized around the major photography syles of the era in question. Includes Arbus, Cameron, Curtis, Dali, de Boulogne, Lange, Leibowitz, Naumann, Orlan, Parker, Penn, Semaras, Sherman, Warhol, Weston, and others, with 240 illustrations, 90 of them in color. This book says "advance uncorrected pages" on the back cover and states the book will be available in November, 1999. If there are color photos within, the color is very, very subtle. Fine.
