Charles Fulton Oursler ( 1893 - 1952) was an American journalist, playwright, editor and writer. Writing as Anthony Abbot, he was a notable author of mysteries and detective fiction. He also worked with Harry Houdini to expose charlatans mediums. In 1935, he and his family spent a week in the Holy Land, on his homeward journey he began writing a book titled A Skeptic in the Holy Land. He assumed that once the book was published, he would forget about religion, but found himself increasingly drawn to Christian ethics. Astounded at how little people knew about the life and teaching of Jesus Christ, he decided that he would write the story of Jesus and "try and make it as interesting as a serial story in a popular magazine". He would call it The Greatest Story Ever Told , ( adapted to film in 1965). A total of 13 of Oursler's books and short stories were made into movies. The Greatest Faith Ever Known, completed by his daughter, April Oursler Armstrong, and posthumously published in 1953. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 383 pages. pages. Seller Inventory # 9109
