A splendid series of five volumes in very good to fine condition, which will appeal particularly to military historians and costumiers. Researched meticulously, this set stands as the default authority in this area. All books have attractive colour frontispieces. None of the books are price-clipped and there are no marks or inscriptions whatsoever. Vol 1: 1660-1714; reprinted 1969; book fine with fine jacket. Attractive red tint to top edge. Hardcover. Complete in five vols. Vols. I & II are 2nd printings, 1961, 1962 (originally published in 1941 & 1942), Vols. III-V are 1st printings, 1961, 1966, 1967. Burgundy cloth with gilt spine lettering, each volume has a colour frontispiece and numerous drawings by the author. Corners and spine ends lightly bumped, else all volumes very good plus, clean & sound / dust jackets have a few chips and small edge tears, but otherwise very good clean & bright condition.
