Description:

First edition. Produced by Elizabeth Kreisher Ritter, historian, and Mary Jane Windsor, biographical editor. Binding may be leather and it is in bad shape. Hinges along spine have separation line on front cover. Spine ends fraggled. Entire book bent, probably from having taken on some water as there is some staining along two edges of the first 70 pages or so of the book. Oddly enough, gilt lettering and decoration on front cover and spine still bright. Corners of front cover have quaint color renditions of a mission building, each one different. Can't tell if these are of the same building or four different buildings. General discoloration inside intensifies along some page edges where water invaded. However, the text is totally readable and the photos are not damaged. Actually, most of the pages have not been touched by water and therefore are not stained. Ultimately, one does not have to demand a copy to be printed, it already exists in its original, though somewhat dulled, appearance. 403 pages. Included are miniature biographies of 176 early non-native American Ventura County families, including one on movie actor Joel McCrae, who in fact was born in Los Angeles. To look at the book it is a mess, but it has held together and has taken on the charm of age. Seller Inventory # 5247
