The Jessup North Pacific Expedition of the American Museum of Natural History, undertaken at the turn of the twentieth century, was an exhaustive inquiry into the history and cultures of the aboriginal tribes of the northwest coast of America and of the eastern part of Siberia. The material, collected by the foremost scholars of the time, is voluminous and in most cases unique, and made enormous contributions to the study of American archaeology, ethnology, comparative religion, and American Indian art.
