A late nineteenth-century edition of this work in a full blind-stamped calf binding. The famous devotional classic The Imitation of Christ, written by the Catholic canon regular Thomas à Kempis (c. 1380-1471). This work was first published anonymously in Latin in the Netherlands between 1418 and 1427, and is the most widely read Christian devotional work after the Bible.Complete in four books, bound in one volume, with engraved initials and head and tailpieces throughout.Undated, dated through copies held at the University of Cambridge Libraries. In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and joints. Internally, firmly bound.
