Hand-colored map of Iowa from Colton's General Atlas. Very good condition, with small chip, mended, at southeast corner with "No. 47" split. The rectangular survey has been completed through the state, though the northernmost tier of three counties contains extremely few towns or topographic detail. Unlike most other Colton atlas maps of this era, the title here is incorporated into the grapevine border rather than standing alone elsewhere on the map surface. Copyright date is 1855.
