About this Item
A finely bound copy of Samuel Rogers' Italy. Samuel Rogers (1763 - 1855) found great fame as a poet during his own lifetime and was immortalised through his often biting and darkly witty conversational pieces. Now less well-remembered, he was superceded by his peers, Wordsowrth and Byron. Inspired by Rogers' travels abroad, Italy recounts his time during the country whilst on The Grand Tour. Bound by Hayday. In a fine full leather binding with gilt lettering and design to the spine and boards. All edges gilt. Externally, lovely with only some mild rubbing to the spine and edges. Very slight spotting to the pastedowns and free endpapers. Internally, excellent with heavier foxing to the half title, frontispiece and title page. Otherwise, light scattered spotting throughout. Pages are clean and firmly bound. Very Good Indeed. Seller Inventory # LTH16-E-17
