About this Item
14 original watercolor drawings, each with manuscript caption leaf. An unpublished manuscript illustrated with 14 original watercolors. A skillfully and pleasingly executed series of watercolors illustrating the ill-fated journey of one Jack Jarvis, who returns from his jaunt without arms or legs. The author and illustrator, Charles Collette (1842-1924), was a popular English stage actor and composer. His extravagantly titled Cryptoconchoidsyphonostomata, or While It's to be Had, premiered in 1875 on the same billing as Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial by Jury. Some chipping to title and caption leaves 14 original watercolor drawings, each with manuscript caption leaf. Seller Inventory # 306065
