Joan Haste, H.Rider Haggard, Longmans, Green, and Co, 1895, Second Edition Set primarily in London, this is a story of a love affair hampered by differences in social class and ending in tragedy. There are 20 illustrations by F. S. Wilson throughout the book with the first illustration protected by the original tissue paper which has some foxing. This is a Second Edition in very good condition. The binding is straight and tight, the boards are clean and the gilt lettering on the front board and darkened spine is bright. There is some shelf wear to the top and bottom edge of the spine. The black end papers and edges are clean without marks, tears or inscriptions. The fore and bottom edges are foxed. There is a neat ownership plate attached to the rear of the front board. Will be despatched wrapped in bubblewrap and in a cardboard box. Seller Inventory # 01303
