459pp. Octavo [21 cm] Original leather with red leather gilt stamped label to spine. Ex-Library from Geological Survey of Canada, with a few of the typical marks and stamps. 2" tear in the front joint at the head of the spine. Hinges reinforced. Several spots to the board edges and the head of spine professionally touched up. Four out of five maps present; three out of four views are present. Missing plates II and III. Map of Albany River has approximately a 3 1/2" edge tear near gutter. Very sporadic contemporary marginalia (often in pencil and occasionally on the maps); else very good. Discreet tissue repairs to the half title page and the maps. A work by the first European to journey overland to the Arctic Ocean in what is now Canada, and the first person to show the trend of the Arctic shore. Seller Inventory # 53979
