[AFRICAN POETRY: SENEGAL]. SALL, Thierno Seydou. KER DOF (THE MAD HOUSE). [Poems by] Thierno Seydou Sall. Translated from Wolof by Molly Melching. Octavo, glossy white pictorial wrappers (reproducing photograph by Daniel Perrot, of Theirno Seydou Sall, on front cover), 64 pages, illustrated (by Thierno Seydou Sall). Prints an introduction by translator Molly Melching (with collaboration of the poet); bi-lingual text, with notes by the translator, and illustrations by the poet. Inscribed, and signed, by Thierno Seydou Sall, on title page, in French, warmly inscribed and signed "Thierno"; inscription fills the entire title page. An uncommon publication; OCLC lists only eight worldwide holdings [Columbia, Library of Congress, Michigan State, Indiana, Northwestern, UCLA, Oakland Public Library, and University of London].Thierno Seydou Sall is a West African poet, from Senegal. He "has intentionally chosen to undress the traditions and contradictions of this society in the penc(public meeting place) of Senegalese society. The tailors of tradition, the mufi(patience) and kersa(conventions of respect) are terrorized by his poetry of revolt." (from the introduction by Molly Melching). Glossy white covers slightly soiled, else a very good copy. Bookseller Inventory # 70043
