Vol 1 only. 8vo. Pp 464, 6 (index). Full calf, worn. Loss of leather to head of spine. Lacks all before title page, including the paste-down endpaper. Possibly lacking the final leaf of the index which ends with the letter W, (Wives, of their behaviour). Text browned - including title page. A little shaken and with many page corners creased. From page 81 to the end it is a cookery book. "Take a Leg of Beef, or a Large Quantity of any other part, and set it over the fire in Four Gallons of Water ." Far from being a pretty copy but one full of astonishing ideas for Johnsonian dinners. Seller Inventory # 08323
