About this Item
A scarce compilation of letters written by James Forman between Aug. 7-12, 1971 during his visit (and hospitalization) in China. Written to comrades in the Black Workers Congress, Forman discusses revolutionary theory, the political mobilization of the masses, Maoist thought, and the future for the black liberation struggle in America. The title of the document is presumably based on Lenin's Letters from Afar. It does not appear that this document was formally issued by Forman or the Black Workers Congress. It was likely printed for internal discussion and circulatied among BWC members. One copy in OCLC at the University of Michigan, and another copy in the Auburn Avenue Research Collection of African American Culture and History. Not found by us in the finding aid of the James Forman papers at the LoC. Corner-stapled 11" x 8 ½" sheets, mimeographed from typescript, various pagination, 6 p., 17 p. (misnumbered though as there is no page 6). Seller Inventory # 12068
