A smart edition of this story from "Sapper" with the scarce original unclipped dust wrapper. With the scarce original unclipped dust wrapper. A collection of short stories, some which had previously been published in the Daily Mail, which draw on the author's own experiences during the First World War. With titles such as: The Lieutenant, The Black Sheep, James and the Land Mine, Ebeneezer the Goat, and The Aftermath. Written by "Sapper" the pen name of Herman Cyril McNeile, a British soldier and author. As serving officers in the British Army were not permitted to publish works under their own names, he was given the name "Sapper" by Lord Northcliffe, owner of the Daily Mail. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and the odd mark to the board. Fading to the spine and minor discolouration to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light chipping to the extremities, predominantly the head of the spine. Sunning to the spine and the odd mark to the board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 872T32
