Oblong Quarto. Unpaginated, 8pp. Original illustrated stapled wraps with red lettering on cover, protected in modern mylar. Collection of short shorts: Loafers and a Cat, Rhymes, Four Ends, Schoolboy and brief about the artists. Illustrated throughout with two-toned lithographs of lively drawings by Alexei Pakhomov. Text in Russian. Wraps with heavy wear along edges, sunned, chipped and creasing along edges. Wraps separated at spine. Block loose and creasing at corners. Wraps in overall fair, interior in fair to good- condition. Samuil Yakovlevich Marshak (1887- 1964) was a Russian and Soviet writer of Jewish decent, translator and children's poet. He is considered "the founder of Russia's (Soviet) children's literature." (Maxim Gorki). Alexei Fedorovich Pakhomov (1900 - 1973) was a Russian avant garde painter renowned as a master of lithography and successful illustrator for children's books in his early career.
