Print no. 10 from the second series of 'Diuerses especes de poissons de mer' (Paris: Jacques van Merle, ca. 1650). Etching on laid paper, made by Albert Flamen after his own design, sheet 120 x 189 mm, platemark 106 x 175 mm., faint stain in the top margin. Literature: Bartsch 22, Robert-Dumesnil 436. Albert Flamen (ca. 1620 - after 1669) was a Flemish engraver, active in Paris where he worked mainly as illustrator on numerous publications. l Two young codfish on the shore, a sailboat on the water, and a tower with moored boats in the background.
