About this Item

Unpaginated. This book, apparently published in the 1920s, is a revised edition of this work published sometime earlier. Paper, cardstock cover, long and narrow (11" x 5 1/2"), with a charming Art Deco cover, and a silk cord with tassels for hanging the book on a wall; no box. The booklet has a salad recipe for each day of the year. Aside from the vintage appeal this, would be useful cook book to own. Most of the recipes sound quite delicious and call for ingredients that are now back in favor (all kinds of greens, for instance), others show their age (jellied salmon with cucumber sauce), and some are just amazing in their ingredients, the degree of preparation required, or the presentation suggested (requiring artful slicing, grating, piping, sprinkling, stuffing, nesting, etc.). Some may be better than they sound (Yarmouth Bloater Salad). There are several pages of dressings and sauces at the end of the book and an index by main ingredient. Fine but for a very, very faint stain on the front cover, one tiny crease, and one quarter-inch closed tear, repaired. Bookseller Inventory # 123014EH
