About this Item
Detached from original leather folder, still present, spine split. Laid down on modern archival tissue with some discoloration along old fold lines. Outline color by ward. Views at the bottom of the Merchants Exchange and City Hall. This is a rare separate issue of a map which was used as a frontispiece for James Hardie's 1827 Description of the City of New York. Described copies of that issue of this map were uncolored. The outline color here appears original. This map was reissued, or stolen, in 1829 and 1831 by John Langdon. Haskell 715 lists copies at New York Historical Society and Library of Congress, though New York Public Library has also obtained a copy of this issue of the map. Seller Inventory # m02200
