A fair copy of this new version of a religious tract from the 18th Century, with title shown on the title page followed by: ' As the Old Whole Duty of Man was designed for those unhappy Times in which it was written; and Supplying the Articles of The Christian Faith, Which are Wanting in than Book, though Essentially necessary Salvation. Necessary for All families and Authorised by the King's most Excellent Majesty. With Devotions proper for several Occasions, also A Help to Reading the Scriptures.' No Jacket (as issued?). Cover: full brown leather with 6 (flat) bands and gilt lettering to spine; somewhat distressed and front panel completely detached; leather scuffed and worn, strange hard white substance attached in small patch to front (could be ancient candle wax but by no means certain). Internally: text block soundly bound apart from front flyleaf which is partially detached and has handwritten calendar notes for services; very small and quite old book plate from a previous owner to front paste-down; all edges marbled but also discoloured; pages browned slightly due to age and with occasional marks and foxing but generally very clean.
