About this Item
NEWS FROM NEW ENGLAND ( Indian Wars/attacks), limited edition, #9 of 60 published by Joel Munsell in 1865, hardcover, 9.5" X 12", with 22 pages. Former library book, front cover detached as are first 2 endpapers. This reprint from 1676 includes numerous references to "Infidel Natives" and "Heathen Indians," as was the custom of the time among the European settlers to call Native Americans. This volume is not only interesting for its account of the conflicts between the Native Americans and their colonial neighbors in the late 17th century, but also for the way it expresses the worldview of those colonists in regards to the land to which they had come.
