About this title

This fascinating, unique book spans nearly a century of pacific northwest maritime history. Stunning never before published photos cover Puget Sound and the Pacific Coast from Oregon to Alaska, made from 1910 to the present by Jeremy Snapp and his grandfather John Snapp. Here are views of working ships-the last of commercial sail, the passenger steamers of the Mosquito Fleet, and the inland freighters, tugs, barges, and lightships that were all a part of the Northwest Legacy.

About the Author:

Photography, ships and the sea have interested Jeremy Snapp since he was very young. He was born in Seattle and grew up at Port Madison in the 1950's and 60's. At the age of twelve he began building boats and later worked in boatyards on Puget Sound and in Alaska. He has built over forty traditional wooden boats. He has been a freelance photographer for over 25 years.

Today the author, a licensed captain occasionally charters his 1913 eighty foot schooner, packs salmon in season and is still active in boatbuilding. He lives in Washington's San Juan Islands with his wife and three children.
