The author, president of Hewlett-Packard Co, was among a group of Northern California business men who toured Soviet Russia in 1954 at the invitation of First Deputy Premier Anastas A Mikoyan. The 2-week tour included visits to Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev. Mr. Packard was also able to visit several industrial plants and to observe and evaluate Russian electronics technology. This book is a copy of his informal report to Hewlett-Packard employees on his observations and impressions he gained during his trip.
