Second edition, copyrighted 1949. . Large 8vo. (23 cm.) xxii, 1-311p. Illustrated with 25 black and white captioned photos and a map. Bibliography and Index. Red cloth with title in gilt on a black field on both the front cover and the spine. Just touches of wear to extremities, lower right corner of front cover bumped, cloth clean and bright, gilt somewhat dulled, all photos and map in fine condition, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. Nandadeva D. Wijesekera [b. 1909] was the first Ceylonese to take a Tripos in Antrhoplogy and Archaeology from Cambridge University. He was associated with the Ethnological Survey of Ceylon and spent much time studying the people of Ceylon fro all angles. He has lived a good part of his life in the village in their midst.
