About this Item

An exceptional copperplate engraving by Benard Fecit of a warrior from New Zealand, showing the native in traditional costume and facial tattoos. It bears the caption "Tête d'un Guerrier de la Nouvelle Zélande. The engraving is one of the most iconic images which came from the French edition of "A Voyage to the Pacific," published after the 1784 edition printed in London. The item is in excellent condition. It has been trimmed at the extremities, and measures approximately 7 1/2 X 9 1/2 inches, very suitable for framing. Bookseller Inventory # 127
