Description:

"Pansy's Sunday Book", by Famous American Writers. Copyrights 1886-1894 by Lothrop Publishing Company under three variations of the Corporate name. They were in Boston, Massachusetts. NOT Ex-Library. No ISBN - there were none in those years. A magazine named Pansy was published in those years by Lothrop - this is not a reprint but is a volume of similar work published, along with others, during those decades. A tight fim clean book in quite worn boards with a beautiful pastedown front, and another one rear. The deep blue cloth covering on the spine is the original spine covering. 9 3/4" x 7 1/2" x perhaps 200 thick, supple and extremely well illustrated pages of lore for the Adolescent of that period in American history. The Frontis is a color Lithograph as are the pastedowns to the front and back boards. Hundreds of black & white illustrations from 1/4 page to full page, throughout. Prose, poetry, inspirational writing, the stories parents wanted the children and teens of the era to read. Good condition, tight and firm, wear around the edges of the boards including wearthrough at the bottom edges and all leading corners. The hinges are NOT starting - tight and clean. A few light dogears, a very few closed separations as those big thick pages were turned a Century ago. No looseness, No mustiness, No smoke smell. Tight and clean in Fair boards. No Foxing. A faded name, ffep, No other markings, No bookplates, NOT ex-library. NOT remainder-marked. Don't let this one get by you - it is a beautiful find!!. Bookseller Inventory #
