Unclipped dustwrapper has quite a lot of tears to the edges, with almost an inch being missing at top end of spine and another one-inch tear and creasing at the bottom end of same, also a larger tear and crease to top right-hand corner of back panel. Minor fading to top end of spine of blue boards where dustwrapper has been torn, some bumping to spine ends and corners, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. A historical novel set in seventeenth century Scotland at the time of the Covenanters, and largely dealing with the (real life) family of the Humes of Polwarth. A sequel to the author's "Mine is the Kingdom", but much harder to find. Her real name was Jane Rees (nee Evans) and she founded the John Llewellyn Rhys literary prize in memory of her husband who was killed in WW2. 541pp. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
