About this Item
Oblong small quarto. Photo album lacking the front and rear boards with 230 gelatin silver photographs, measuring between 1.5" x 1.5" and 5.5" x 3.5", some with captions. Good only album with about near fine photos with some images creased, torn, and detached. An album relating to a Midwest family during the Teens and Twenties, with several surnames mentioned but not definitively identified (Yader, Martin, Richie and Irwin). The photographs show sparsely populated settlements with standalone homes, stores, and train stations; shots of horse drawn carriages and farm animals; groups of people posing by streams, rocky ledges, and train stations; one group riding a "Buda" motor car that could ride on railroad tracks; various trains, trains stations, and train bridges, include a train clearing a mountainous snowdrift during winter. The album also contains eight images of Omaha after a 1913 tornado; as well as shots of downtown Vale, Oregon, including the drug store, hardware store, and saddlery; Wichita, Kansas from a hotel overlooking the Hauser-Garrison Dry Goods and the nearby train station on Douglas Ave, and scattered shots of Idaho and New Mexico. An interesting album of Midwestern and Western travel. Seller Inventory # 403266
