Beginning as a private secretary and an assistant for Abraham Lincoln, he became a diplomat. He served as United States Secretary of State under Presidents William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt.Wikipedia. This third edition features six full color plates, the cover and title page illustrations by the inimitable Wyeth as well as many B&W sketches and drawings. The book is in near fine condition with a tight, straight binding, sharp corners and only slight, age related discoloration to the cover illustration.
