Cut to an oval and mounted above a facsimile signature. London, "Photographed by Cundall, Downes & Co." Mount creased above the image, but the photograph itself is strong and unfaded. Collins' beard appears to have as little relationship with his face as did the later William Empson's. Rather it looks like an afterthought in order to conform with Victorian norms.
