About this Item

Leather covers are worn; boards are exposed at lower corners. Covers are disconnected and spine is missing. 25 pages of text followed by Addendum page then 8 black and white plates from Lieut. Rodgers' Report 1883. All of these pages have some gnawing to bottom corner edge - more to text pages than plates. Then there are four foldout maps A: "Plan General Des Installations de la Compagnie a Colon"; B: "Location of the Panama Canal / Profile Along the Axis of the Canal"; C: "Plans Showing the Principal Sections Along the Route of the Panama Canal"; D: "Colon Section". After the foldout maps there are 25 black and white plates titled " Lieut. Rodgers' Report 1884. The side edge of these 25 plates have a mild stain to edge - not affected plate and the last several have small holes at edge - again not affecting plate itself. Plates could certainly be removed for framing and this damage would not be noticable. These plates are followed by a very large foldout "Plan of the Panama Canal"; it is approximately 80 inches long when folded out! Other foldouts follow that one titled "Plan and Profile Section", " Profil en Long Sur L'axe Du Canal Entre Les Kilometres 40 & 60" and last one is in color entitled " Coupe Geologique Suivant L'Axe Du Canal Entre Culebra et Emperador" and it approximately 46 inches long folded out. All of these foldouts have small area(s) of gnawing that leave small holes along folds when they are folded out. Bookseller Inventory # 016717
