About this Item
8vo. 21 by 16.5 cm. Unpaginated, 41 pages with visual content. 131 vignette drawings, done in pencil, pen-and-ink and 54 of which are watercolored, of animals, mostly real, and a few other things. Animals include elephants, fish, birds (flamingos, cranes, ducks), bears, goats, lambs, horses, cats, rabbits, foxes, giraffes, dragons. Also waves, signage (some with animals), trees. These drawings were done on graph paper, which facilitated the young artist's efforts to scale the drawings accurately undoubtedly. Yet the drawings in our view transcend the expectations one might have for such a learning exercise. The vignettes are across the board pleasing, especially those with watercoloring. The colors are bright and sometimes even charismatic. The illustrations of some of the animals, such as those of the cat, are intended to depict the animal not just from a variety of angles but also a range of attitudes and actions. Overall this is a delightful, and rather unique, student accomplishment. Condition: moderate wear. Seller Inventory # 006529

The shipping cost provided automatically by ABE assumes that the item is the size of an average hardcover book. Since our stock is comprised largely of material which is bigger and heavier, we will often need to request additional shipping charges as a result. We pride ourselves on always packing safely, with the actual materials and method of packing depending on the item(s), where it is going, and with whom we are shipping. We most frequently use the post office, but on some high value items, or upon request, we may use alternatively UPS or FedEx. With the postal service, to domestic destinations with lower value items and the automatically furnished ABE shipping quote, we will usually use Media Mail; on higher value items we are partial to Priority or Express Mail. We will always seek to comply with a customer's wishes if they are communicated to us. When we seek additional shipping charges, we pass along those charges at our cost -- we do not add for handling or materials generally.
