Oblong 16mo, written on blue paper attached to a larger sheet of plain paper on which is writtem "An Autograph of dear M. L. which cost us 50 pounds". The promissory note is dated London Jan 3 1870 for 50 pounds payable in threes months to Shirley Brooks of Kent Terrace, Regents Park. Another date of April 6, 1870 is written at top. Also counter signed by Brooks. Brooks became editor of Punch on the death of Lemon in May, 1870. Partial tearing at folds. Bookseller Inventory # 04742
