16mo, engraved frontis entitled 'Scotland's vaunted Howthornden' 268 p. Full green polished calf, 5 raised bands, 5 crossed arrow devices in compartments, red lettering piece, covers have double rule around with roses at corners, upper cover has the crossed arrow device in the centre, the edges of the boards have a gilt pattern, marbled endpapers and edges, blind stamped dentelles. A very attractive presentation copy bound by Wilbee of Harrow for the school with the school presentation plate on the front pastedown dated 1886 and made out to J Patrick.
