A fourth edition, published in October, 1954 of Volume II: Their Finest Hour. The first edition was published in June, 1949, and was reprinted in a second revised edition in November, 1950, and a third revised edition in November, 1951 before this fourth edition. Numerous maps in the text and folding pull-out maps - all fine without creases or tears. ***A near fine copy in black cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. The gilt is still beautifully bright, and the boards are clean and unmarked. Dark red publisher's top-stain to the page block, lightly faded. No creasing or tears to the cloth. Corners sharp. Internally also near fine, with no inscriptions - just a small Foyle's Bookshop label to the bottom corner of the front pastedown. Clean pages, and no creases to the very thin paper. Spine tight with no reading lean. ***In a very good dustwrapper which is largely complete, with some slight loss, rubbing and creasing at the top and bottom edges of the spine. The spine of the dustwrapper is also slightly faded. No significant chips, tears or creases.
