Vertical scroll painting, border: 52.2 x 182 cm., circular color fan painting: 42.7 x 42.7 cm., Japanese mounting in blue, tan, blue silk-brocade cloth, painted on on silk, brocade roll ends, very clean, solid. R A R E ! . *** **** *** . . A TRADITIONAL CHINESE FAN COLOR PAINTING . . . SHOWING AN ANCIENT PINE TREE, BIRD & BAMBOO . . . COLOR PAINTING ON GOLD-COLOR SILK . *** . This is a traditional subject of Chinese, Japanese & Korean paintings. It shows the old pine tree, a symbol of longevity & wisdom of the aged. a bamboo grove at the bottom with a small bird in flight. . Stunningly executed in fine detail, this is the work of an accomplished master artist. . Painted on a circular fan-shaped golden silk cloth. Beautifully mounted and presented. . Text adjacent to the signature shows a cyclical date of 1898. With "Tsurujo was written in the Nanxuan of Yisong Hyo." We don t know what this means, perhaps a Korean painting? . *** THE MOUNTING: This vertical scroll is mounted in the traditional Chinese style, with a brush painted title slip, blue silk cloth outside binding and two embroidered silk roll end covers. . *** THE YING ZHANG: SEAL/CHOP: This painting has a red cinnabar seal below the artist signature, it reads: "Mo ji you shi zhi min" ["The people of Sugi wandering food."] . *** CONDITION: The painting is excellent, no issues. . *** Color photos are posted to our website. . ***.
